>
While iOS 26 doesn't exist yet, this guide provides general steps to remove beta or older iOS versions from your iPhone or iPad.
Removing an iOS Beta Version
Installing beta versions of iOS can provide early access to new features, but they can also be buggy. If you want to revert to a stable version, here’s how:
1. Unenroll from the Beta Program
- Go to Apple's Beta Software Program website.
- Sign in with your Apple ID.
- Follow the instructions to unenroll your device.
2. Delete the Beta Profile
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Go to General > VPN & Device Management.
- Tap on the iOS Beta Software Profile.
- Tap Remove Profile and confirm.
3. Restore to a Previous iOS Version
- Back Up Your Device: Before proceeding, back up your iPhone or iPad using iCloud or your computer.
- Connect to a Computer: Connect your device to a computer with the latest version of iTunes (or Finder on macOS Catalina or later).
- Enter Recovery Mode:
- For iPhone 8 or later: Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Press and hold the Side button until you see the recovery mode screen.
- For iPhone 7/7 Plus: Press and hold both the Side (or Top) button and the Volume Down button until you see the recovery mode screen.
- For iPhone 6s or earlier: Press and hold both the Home button and the Side (or Top) button until you see the recovery mode screen.
- Restore: In iTunes or Finder, you'll see an option to Restore. Click it and follow the on-screen instructions.
Important Considerations
- Data Loss: Restoring your device will erase all data. Ensure you have a recent backup.
- Apple Support: For any issues, refer to Apple Support or visit an Apple Store.
By following these steps, you can successfully remove an iOS beta and revert to a stable version. Remember to always back up your device before making significant changes.
