Shane Ramos: My Birth Story
My name is Shane Ramos, and this is the story of my birth. While I don't remember the actual event, I've pieced together the details from family stories and old home videos.
The Anticipation
My parents, eager first-timers, spent months preparing for my arrival. The nursery was painted a calming blue, filled with stuffed animals and a state-of-the-art (for the time) baby monitor. They attended every birthing class imaginable, practicing breathing techniques and learning about the stages of labor.
The Big Day
As the story goes, my mom woke up early one morning with a feeling that today was the day. Contractions started mildly but quickly intensified. My dad, calm under pressure (or so he claims), rushed her to the hospital.
The Arrival
After what seemed like an eternity (but was likely only a few hours), I finally made my grand entrance into the world. Weighing in at a healthy 7 pounds 8 ounces, I was immediately the center of my parents' universe. The first photo taken was of me being held by my mom, and that picture is still proudly displayed in our family home.
Life After Birth
The early days were a blur of sleepless nights, feedings, and diaper changes. My parents learned on the fly, relying on advice from family and friends. Despite the challenges, they were overjoyed to be parents and cherished every moment.
While I don't remember any of this firsthand, these stories have shaped my identity and given me a deep appreciation for my parents. Every birthday, we retell these stories, keeping the memory of my birth alive. It's a reminder of the incredible journey of life and the love that surrounds me.
